Inse Böhmig

M.A., studied Political Science, Islamic Studies and Modern History at the Universität Bonn from 2002 to 2008. In her studies, she focused on international relations and development policy, as well as political and societal transformation processes in the Middle East. Her master’s thesis examined the potential for the democratization of Jordanian civil society in, for example, human rights organizations. She was active in developmental policy organizations during her studies and stayed in Syria, Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco for longer periods of time for internships and for study purposes. She was an academic assistant from 2008 to 2009 at the Bonn Asia Center. While there she carried out research activities on the trans-cultural exchange between Europe and Asia and took over the design and editing of the website.

She has been a research fellow at the Georg Eckert Institute since March 2009.

Projects

Inse Böhmig has worked on the development of teaching materials about the Islamic world for the project “1001 Ideas: Islamic Culture and History” at the GEI since March 2009. For this project she is responsible, among other things, for the design and editing of instructional materials and the supervision of authors.
