Dr. Stephanie Zloch

PhD, studied history, geography and Slavic languages in Cologne, Warsaw and at the Humboldt University in Berlin where she received in 2007 her PhD on Polish nationalism between the world wars. After postdoctoral research at the GEI she became a fellow of an international research project on the history of forced labour compensation at Ruhr University Bochum in April 2008.

She has been a Research Fellow at the Georg Eckert Institute since September 2010. Her research area is Central and Eastern Europe (Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia) with a special focus on nationalism, memory, migration, religion and education.

Project

At the Georg Eckert Institute Stephanie Zloch is working on the project ‘Pruzzenland as a Region of Broken Memories. Reconstruction and Representation of European Historical Space in Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Russia since 1900’ sponsored by the DFG and the Polish Ministry of Science. The Institute of History and International Relations at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn is partner of the project.
