Damira Umetbaeva
MA, Damira Umetbaeva obtained her Bachelors degree in Cultural Anthropology from the American University in Central Asia in 2005, and Masters degree in International Relations from the Institute for Social and European Studies (Hungary) and the Budapest University of Corvinus in 2007. From 2006 to 2008 she was instructor at the Anthropology department of the American University in Central Asia. She has been a research fellow at the the Georg Eckert Institute since October 2008.
Projects
At the Georg-Eckert Institute, Damira Umetbaeva is involved in the project “Patterns of Cultural Interpretation of Socialism: History Teachers as Mediators between Collective and Individual Memory in Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Lithuania”, within which she is dedicating herself to the Kyrgyzstan case.
