Kübra Akdemir joined the Institute on 1 December 2018 as a research fellow and is currently writing her thesis while working on the project: ‘Islamic Religious Education Lessons: How a new subject is negotiated, taught and practiced’.
She studied for a bachelor’s degree in Arabic and Islamic studies, and gender research at the University of Göttingen between 2011 and 2015. She completed her master’s degree in Arabic and Islamic studies with modules on gender research at the same university in 2017. During her studies she specialised in education and ethics in Islam, and Women and Children in Islam.
Whilst studying she undertook several voluntary and honorary positions, work experience posts and part-time jobs. She worked for example as a student research assistant and taught German.
