The stocks of the Georg Eckert Institute library will be the first to be digitalised in the course of the project ‘GEI-Digital’, which has been running since 2009 and is funded by the German Research Foundation. The aim is to bring together all textbooks from the 17th century to the end of the National Socialist period that are available in German libraries, to index them both formally and thematically, and to render them available as full-text versions. At the end of the first phase of the project, some 2000 books will have been digitalised. [more]

Am 18. März 2010 ab 20:00 Uhr verleiht das Georg-Eckert-Institut für internationale Schulbuchforschung erstmals im Rahmen eines Festaktes seinen Forschungspreis für wissenschaftliche Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet der internationalen Bildungsmedienforschung. Ministerpräsident Christian Wulff wird gemeinsam mit Dr. Peter Schell (Geschäftsführer der Westermann Verlagsgruppe) und Prof. Dr. Simone Lässig (Direktorin des Georg-Eckert-Instituts) in der Dornse des Altstadtrathauses in Braunschweig den von der Westermann Verlagsgruppe gestifteten Preis überreichen. Auf ihrer Mitgliederversammlung in Rostock am 27. November 2009 hat die Leibnizgemeinschaft das Georg-Eckert-Institut für internationale Schulbuchforschung in Braunschweig (GEI) einstimmig und mit sofortiger Wirkung als assoziiertes Mitglied aufgenommen. [more]
