International educational media research is an interdisciplinary field of research which has not previously been adequately defined. The main task of this research area is to systematically impart structure to the theories and methods of this field of research on the basis of its projects and to explore the historical dimension of educational media. This research area will thereby help to lay the theoretical and methodological foundations of textbook and educational media research by drawing on approaches from cultural sciences, and by reaching out beyond traditional disciplines via national and international dialogue.
