Communication and Transfer
The Communication and Transfer Department is responsible for the internal and external communication and transfers with the public. The department’s tasks are divided into five areas:
- Information Technology:
The IT infrastructure at the GEI forms the foundation for modern communication. - Editing and Translation:
Editorial and translation work pave the road for good communication and appropriate distribution of academic findings. Their tasks encompass a broad spectrum of tasks including publications, web presences and project activities. - Publications:
Our publications, increasingly also on-line, appear as printed media: “Eckert. The Journal Series” beginning in 2008 with V&R unipress Publishing House, “The Journal of Educational Media, Memory, and Society (JEMMS)” the new academic journal, beginning in 2009 through Berghahn Books, Oxford/New York. - Public Relations:
Public Relations for us are a contribution to the communication between academia and society. We convey research findings to a broad audience – not only intelligibly but also in a precise and sophisticated manner. - Edumeres Platform:
This international information and communication platform for academic research content and methods also provides innovative knowledge generation and documentation on academically relevant educational media.
The cooperative work between with the various area responsibilities guarantees a professional appearance outside the department.
We consider the development, adaptation, testing and use of new information and communication technologies as our central task. These technologies are the outcome of the GEI’s position as a network and are essential for the placement of the institute’s research findings in various societal arenas.
The Georg Eckert Institute has begun to develop internet-based transfer services, which will give it the possibility to adapt itself to the changing conditions of academic user needs. These institute-wide organized projects are coordinated by the Communication and Transfer Department.
With this conceptual design the Georg Eckert Institute is pursing its goal of not only operating as a physical center of international textbook research, but also of developing into a virtual information and communication hub in order to network the textbook and educational media research in a modern manner.
The Communication and Transfer department is not the only area which generates transfer services. Transfer tasks benefiting diverse user groups are also performed by the academic research groups and the library through individual projects.
