Francesca Fallucchi joined the GEI in July 2017 and works as an information scientist on the 'WorldViews' project in the Digital Information and Research Infrastructures (DIRI) department.
She is a researcher at the University of Rome Guglielmo Marconi. In 2015, she worked for the company 4IT Solution S.R.L. where she realised systems for the management of big data taken from structured and unstructured open data.
From 2012 to 2014 she worked as a freelancer for AgID (Agenzia per l'italia digitale) where she carried out research and development activities related to open data with semantic techniques. Her main achievement was the development of methods for knowledge discovery from structured and unstructured PA data. In particular, she supported the development of a PA search engine and helped to build and populate the PA knowledge base and discovery e-services in the public sector.
She was awarded a PhD in computer science and engineering by the University of Rome Tor Vergata, with a thesis on ‘Exploiting Transitivity in Probabilistic Models for Ontology Learning’. She participated in the following research projects: italia.gov.it, D4Science and Diligent. She has written many papers for conferences and journals on the semantic web, NLP, machine learning, digital humanities and related research fields. Currently, her main research interests address knowledge discovery and data linking of structured and unstructured open data, ontology learning, semantic technology and knowledge management of big data, and digital humanities and cultural heritage.
