Transnational Education Influence during the Interwar Period: The League of Nations and China (1930-1939)

During the interwar period, the League of Nations and China cooperated in the field of education. It included transnational education missions for the reorganization of education in China separately in 1931, 1932 and 1934, transnational exchange of educational films since 1931, the cooperation between Chinese Academic Consult and the International Committee on Intellectual Cooperation that aimed at helping Chinese oversea students. The presentation tries not only to analyze how the League of Nations and the related actors promoted the transnational educational cooperation but asks to what extent those transnational influences became part of the indigenization process.
