Andreas Fuchs (Dipl. Theol./MA) is a research fellow in the Digital Information and Research Infrastructure department at the Georg Eckert Institute. From 2007 to 2013 he worked principally on the organisation and operation of the edumeres.net internet platform before joining the Textbooks and Society department where he was able to combine his research interests of music, religion and history in the DFG-sponsored project ‘Innovation through Tradition? Approaching cultural transformations during the Sattelzeit via Jewish educational media’. His resulting dissertation, based in the musicology department at the University of Göttingen, explores the role of song in nineteenth century Jewish reform movements. Between January 2016 and March 2017 Andreas Fuchs took a sabbatical from the GEI and worked for the German Historical institute in Washington DC. He returned to the Digital Information and Research Infrastructure department at the GEI in April 2017. Since 2018 he has been the data protection coordinator for the Institute.

Prior to joining the GEI he worked at the University of Regensburg (Chair for Liturgical Studies, Chair for the Didactics of German Language and Literature, Institute for Protestant Theology, Institute for British and American Studies), where he had previously graduated with a degree in Theology, an MA in Musicology and a qualification in Czech Studies (‘Bohemicum’).
