Knowledge in Transition

Radwa Shalaby joined the Knowledge in Transition department at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute in September 2019. She worked as a research fellow on a project analysing Arabic-language textbooks until September 2020 and is currently working on the collaborative project 'Radical Islam versus radical anti-Islam' (RIRA), in which she is analysing teaching units in German school textbooks that address Islam.

After earning her degree in German Studies at Ain Shams University in Cairo, she worked as a tutor and a research assistant in the department for German as a Foreign Language. She completed a master's degree in Comparative Literature at the Georg August University of Göttingen and worked as a student assistant on a language coaching project (Sprachcoaching) in the department of Intercultural German Studies. She was awarded a scholarship by the Heinrich Böll Foundation between 2015 and 2018 in recognition of her academic achievements and social commitment.
