3/2023 Israel and the Middle East Conflict in Textbooks

The events of 7 October 2023 – the brutal massacre of more than 1,200 Jews in Israel by Hamas and the taking of more than 230 hostages – as well as the subsequent new war which has brought renewed suffering to the civilian population of the Gaza Strip have once again brought the Middle East conflict and its virulence to the attention of the German public. In view of the polarisation caused by these events, we ask how Israel and the Middle East conflict should be dealt with in lessons and textbooks.
