Simiao Yu

Simiao Yu joined the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute in December 2018, initially working as a student assistant and later as a research assistant. Since May 2021 she has been supporting the directorial board as a research fellow.  
She studied art history, art education and Chinese studies at the der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich before gaining a diploma in fine arts in 2020 from the Braunschweig University of Art. In 2021 she completed a postgraduate degree (Meisterschuelerin) at the same institution, under Prof. Natalie Czech, during which she specialised in photography, installation and sculpture. Her work focuses on the ambiguity of visual semiotics and changing identities where race and gender intersect.
