Educational Media, the Georg Eckert Institute and its Founder
People have always been motivated to learn – and to pass on their knowledge using a range of different methods and tools. Join us on a journey through the world of educational media from the Stone Age to the present day!
There is also a lot to discover about Georg Eckert, the Institute’s founder. Born in Berlin in 1912 and strongly affected by his experiences during the Second World War, he was devoted to international understanding, which he hoped to achieve by improving school textbooks. To this end he founded the Textbook Institute in Braunschweig in 1951. Our exhibition tells the story of the Institute as well as that of its home, the Villa von Bülow, in which you are currently standing.
