How is Judaism depicted in school education today—especially in relation to Christianity? In its examination of religious education and ethics teaching and textbooks in Lower Saxony, Germany, this book concludes that while much has already changed and Judaism is very present it is nevertheless still marginalised. Despite a generally sympathetic and respectful portrayal, certain structural elements lead to Judaism being subtly disparaged in comparison to Christianity. The volume describes construction mechanisms that may contribute to the latent transmission of anti-Jewish patterns, but also shows examples of best practice in education.
