Christian Scheel

Christian Scheel is a research fellow at the Georg Eckert Institute, currently supporting the Global Textbook Resource Center (Glotrec). Previously, he was project coordinator of the projects Semantic Concepts in Textbooks (SemKoS) and the International TextbookCat. His tasks include the continuous maintenance and further development of the International TextbookCat into a multi-lingual research tool that makes the databases of our international partners centrally researchable.

He studied computer science at the Technical University of Berlin. Through his work as a research fellow has always been involved in research and teaching in the field of information retrieval and is currently writing his doctoral thesis on this subject. His knowledge of search engine technology enables him to contribute to the constant improvement of the research infrastructure for textbooks at the Georg Eckert Institute.

Main research areas

His research interests include machine learning, semantic systems, recommender systems, computer security and learning to rank.
