Prof. Dr. Macgilchrist Felicitas
Carl von Ossietzky Universität OldenburgFelicitas Macgilchrist is a professor of digital education in schools. She researches and teaches at the intersection of digital culture and schools. She is particularly interested in the socio-political, ethical and educational implications of the design of educational media and infrastructures (EdTech). She is currently Vice-Dean for Research in Faculty I.
Her current research projects draw on critical, ethnographic and speculative approaches, e.g. in the ethnographic investigation of digital practices in schools, in cultural-theoretical analyses of ‘AI’ and schools, in a discourse-analytical study on change in the EdTech industry, and with a critical-utopian approach to everyday utopias in schools. She leads the RECOMPOSE project on AI in schools, is spokesperson for the international collaborative project Reconfigurations of Educational In/Equalities in a Digital World (RED), and co-editor of Learning, Media and Technology and Palgrave Studies on Educational Media. She occasionally advises policymakers at local, regional and national levels, as well as the EU and UNESCO, on issues related to digital education.
