The 2024 Call for Applications

Call for applications launched for the Educational Media Award 2024 for primary schools.

Application deadline extended!

Individuals, publishing houses and institutions, that use or produce educational media have until 30 September 2023 to nominate educational materials for consideration for the ‘Educational Media of the Year 2024’.

The award, presented by the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute, honours authors and producers of educational media who have the courage to innovate in terms of content, didactics, methodology and design as well as those that are able to satisfactorily address digital learning and a skills-centred approach to education.

Awards will be presented for materials for primary schools in each of the categories: languages, primary science and mathematics. The winning entry in each category is decided by a jury comprising representatives from academia, educational practice and publishing.

The awards, which are under the patronage of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the German Länder, will be presented at the Leipzig Book Fair in March 2024.

The GEI aims, through the award, to stimulate discussion of educational media and their significance in everyday teaching. It should raise awareness of the social significance of textbooks and digital educational media for schools and contribute to their continuous development and improvement.
