Peter Carrier ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter sowie verantwortlicher Redakteur der Journal of Educational Media, Memory and Society. Von 1983 bis 1991 Studium der Germanistik und Komparatistik an der University of Leeds und der Université Paris VIII, Promotion an der Freien Universität Berlin im Jahr 2000 mit einer Arbeit über Holocaust Monuments and National Memory Cultures in France and Germany (Berghahn, 2005). Lehrtätigkeiten in den Bereichen Sprach-, Kultur- und Politikwissenschaft und Geschichte an der Universität Tübingen, der Université Paris VII, der Freien Universität Berlin, der Central European University in Budapest und der Queen's University (Kanada). Carrier ist Redaktionsmitgleid der Zeitschrift National Identities in London. Seine aktuellen Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind die Symbolik und Rhetorik der Erinnerung in der politischen Kommunikation sowie ethische Grundsätze des zeitgenössischen Diskurses über den Holocaust
